Camões IP/MFA uses the term Development Education.

DGE/MoE uses the terms Development Education, Sustainable Development (this one as a domain of Citizenship Education).

Development Education is integrated in the curricula as part of “Citizenship Education” – curricular component “Citizenship and Development – through the domain “Sustainable Development” (which is one of the seventeen domains of Citizenship Education). Both concepts are integrated in the curriculum in the subject (curricular component): Citizenship and Development.

Portuguese NGDO Platform uses the term Development and Global Citizenship Education.

CIDAC uses the term Development Education.

The 2021 budget for Development Education co-financing scheme is 605,000 euros.

The 2020 budget for Development Education co-financing scheme is 605,000 euros (Portugal Country Report 2020).

In 2019, the budget of the call for proposals was raised from 550 000 to 625,000 euros. (Portugal Country Report 2019).

TheInter-municipal Network for Development Cooperation (ARICD), a Platform that gathers around 20 Portuguese municipalities that work in development cooperation – prioritises Development Education as one of its concerns in its 2014-2020 Strategic Plan (Santos, 2019). ARICD has been created and reinforced with the support of the DE national and European co-financing schemes.
